It is believed that lemon water increases bile juice secretion by liver. Bile juice is an excretion product of liver which aids in digestion. Furthermore, lemon juice has a mild diuretic property causing you to go to the washroom more often resulting in flushing of waste products more often.

Firstly, Vitamin C stimulates White Blood Cell(WBCs) production, which boosts immunity and hence provides protection against diseases and infections. Who should not take? Or When it shouldn’t be taken?
If you are suffering from Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease[GERD], i.e. Acid Reflux or other conditions such as Peptic Ulcers, Hyperchlorhydria(also known as acidity), you should avoid drinking lemon infused water on an empty stomach.
Also avoid drinking lemon infused water first thing in the morning as it may induce acid reflux. Instead, drink a glass of plain water first followed by Lemon Infused Water.
